Dell Inspiron 15 5577: best gaming laptop under 75K
BEST GAMING LAPTOP
UNDER 75 K: THE DELL INSPIRON 15 5577
(In Depth Review)
What makes
the Dell Inspiron 5577 special is it’s price. It comes under 75000 INR which is
great compared to its competitors. It is the cheapest Dell laptop with a Nvidia
GeForce GTX 1050. It’s an attractive gaming laptop with best in class overall
and graphics performance. The model which I am reviewing comes with intel core
i5, Without SSD. I personally using this laptop since 2 months.
Looks & Feel
Design wise
it is Dell’s one of the best gaming laptop. It is made up of ABS plastic which
one of the best plastics in laptop, which also helps to reduce its weight which
is under 2.5 Kg
.
It has that
classic red and black combination. With a red backlit keyboard. The top and the
palm rest area has a rubberized soft-touch finish. It’s surface is a
fingerprint magnet. It has a red Dell logo, which is a cool thing.
It also
comes with a bullet hole theme. Which looks awesome.
It has one
of the biggest touchpad. The full-sized keyboard which is a good thing.
There are
plenty of ports 3 USB 3.0 port, HDMI, Gigabit Ethernet, 3.5 mm headphone jack,
SD card slot, Kensington lock slot.
Display
Dell made a
big compromise in this area. It is a
15.6” 1920 x 1080 LED display with antiglare coating. But the most
disappointing thing that it is not a IPS panel, It is a TN panel with a
brightness of 219 nits. It looks
horrible when you look at the display from a different angle. From top it looks
too much bright and bottom it is very black.
Audio
The audio is
decent. The base is great thanks to the sub-woofer at bottom. And main speakers
are placed above the keyboard which is a plus point. They are just loud enough to
fill a room with brassy distorted audio when set at max. volume.
Keyboard and Trackpad
It comes
with a full sized keyboard with a two stage red backlit. It has a
spill-resistant keyboard deck. With a key travel of 1.4 mm it feels shallow,
but overall typing experience is good. Touchpad is big and feels very good. The
touchpad comes with windows precision drivers which is a plus point. The bottom
corners of the touchpad delivered springy feedback with a gentle click.
Performance
It has best
in class hardware in its price range, Equipped with a Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050
GPU with a 4GB of DDR5 RAM, 45 watt 7th gen. Quad-core Intel Core i5
7300HQ processor clocked at 2.5 GHz and 8 GB RAM It can play any game with it. AAA titles run
smoothly at 1080p low settings.
Many games
can run smoothly at 1080p low with 60+ FPS.
On Geekbench
4, the overall performance test notched 10391.
Thermal
management is one of the best things in Dell 5577. It has two ventilation vents
at back and one on the left size.
With a 1 TB
HDD at 5400 rpm, the transfer speeds are slow at around 100 MBPS.
Battery
Life
The best
thing in this laptop because of which I also purchased it is it’s battery. It
comes with a big 74 Whr 6 cell battery. Which gives me 8 to 9 hours of battery
backup with mixed usage when screen set at 50% brightness. And 2.5 hours of continuous
gaming. A big thumb up to Dell for putting this battery in it! It takes 2.5 hours to go from 0 to 100 thanks to its massive 130 W power brick. It has a nice cool blue ring. Which gives a nice touch.
Software
It comes
preinstalled with windows 10 Home with Microsoft office 2016 home and student
lifetime subscription. McAfee internet security 15 months subscription for
free. Dropbox space of 20 GB for free. There’s a bunch of Dell-branded software
which are quite useful.
Pros
Attractive
Design, Best in class battery, good graphics, good trackpad, good thermal
management.
Cons
Poor
display, does not come with USB type-C.
My Verdict
The Dell
Inspiron 15 5577 offers a solid gaming and overall performance with beast in
class battery. Go for this gaming beast if that TN panel is not a deal breaker
for you!
